Challenge yourself and have fun by playing your instrument

What is the
Moseley Misfits?

The Moseley Misfits is a group for those looking to challenge themselves musically whilst having fun and meeting other like-minded people in their community.

Whatever level you are, we have a part that will suit your ability. Push yourself with a more advanced part or step down a level so you can really get to grips with what you are playing. We welcome any instrument from traditional orchestral instruments to saxophones, accordions, harmonicas and electric guitars.

What do
we do?

As well as playing a range of music from different genres and eras, (like rock, pop, film, classical…) we organise performances, social events and other fun activities that all members are welcome to join in if they wish.

Members of this group generally read music notation or read Guitar TAB. If you prefer chord symbols, check out Moseley Rock Collective.

HOW MUCH DOES joining COST?

Your first session is Free! After that, we ask members to pay our standard session rates.

Either:

Reduced £5 per week or £16 a month
Normal £8 per week or £24 a month
Pay it Forward £10+ per week or £32+ a month

You can pay on the day, online or make a standing order. Visit our “member subs” page for further details.

There are some free places available for people with low income. When you sign up, you can let us know if you’re interested in this.

When and where
do we meet?

Your Session
Leaders

The Moseley Misfits sessions are led by Reuben and Rob. Founders of Misfits Music, the two studied composition at Birmingham Conservatoire graduating in 2015. Rob then went on to study a masters in composition at The Royal Conservatory of The Hague whilst Reuben worked a professional musician and photographer.

On Rob’s return from Holland in 2018, the two founded the Moseley Misfits, which through the Coronavirus Pandemic in 2020 grew to include other groups and projects becoming Misfits Music Foundation.

ARE THERE AUDITIONS OR
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS?

No! We don’t audition for this group, however this group is aimed at those with at least basic skills on an instrument, and can read some music notation.

We provide musical parts that suit those from around Grade 1 - Grade 8 ability on their instruments, and you can choose an easier, or more difficult part as you prefer.

Are you looking to get into music, but don’t play an instrument or read music? Check out our All Activities Page, as we have lot’s of other groups that might suit you!
