Be part of the biggest rock band in Birmingham

Join us for BRUM ROCKS, an exciting project that will unite hundreds of amateur musicians and singers for a once-in-a-lifetime rock concert in Birmingham on the 14th of July 2024 at the Forum in Birmingham.

Get Ready to Rock Birmingham:

  • No experience needed! Whether you're a pro or a keen amateur, we’ll have materials that match your ability.

  • Bring your instrument. We welcome any instruments. Guidelines are coming soon to help us manage the technical details.

  • Bring your voice. No band is complete without its singers. The more voices, the better!

  • Free taster workshops: Before the grand finale, we're hosting workshops across Birmingham and the Black Country to help you find your groove, meet

  • Join the Rock Collective or Misfits groups: Can't wait for summer? Jump in with our regular groups – hone your skills, jam with like-minded musicians, and build the camaraderie that will rock the stage come showtime.

How can your buisness get involved?

Are you a business looking to give back to your local community? Come along to our Brum Rocks, Sandwell Business event at Thimblemill Library on the 21st of March from 7pm. Learn more about our unique music project and how your business can get involved.

Watch a short presentation outlining our Brum Rocks project accompanied by free drinks and snacks. Meet members of your local community who already participate in our Brum Rocks activities and take the opportunity to see one of our workshops in action.

Wassail Stirchley

Wassail!

Join us from 4.30pm to 6pm at the Birmingham Brewing Company to start and end the Stirchley WASSAIL! Join in with singing and processing through local orchards, accompanied by the Ragged Crow dancers. Wear warm clothes, bring torches and lights and something noisy to bong, bang or clang.

Wrap up warm and bring some items to bang a beat on!  Pots, pans, tambourines etc would be useful!  We will start and finish at Birmingham Brewing Company. This is at the bottom of Hazelwell Road - over the bridge and into the industrial park.  It would be helpful if you could RSVP to give us an idea of the numbers.  If not, feel free to turn up on the night!

Moseley Misfits, b30 Ensemble and the Song Collective Christmas Concert

Playing Your Favourite Music from Santas playlist…

Prepare to be filled with holiday cheer as we present our annual Christmas concert, this year themed around Santa's ultimate playlist. Gather your loved ones and join us at MAC Birmingham to support local musicians as they play a blend of festive favourites, heartwarming carols and other musical delights.

In addition to our beloved Moseley Misfits, we're thrilled to showcase our newest group, the B30 Ensemble. With both groups combined, we’ll have a sizable group that will blow you away!

And for an extra special treat, we'll be treating you to a performance from the Song Collective. It’s a collaboration with the mental health charity KINMOS to present a unique musical experience for those experiencing mental health. This group truly highlights the power of music to bring people together, foster connections, and promote mental well-being.

This concert is free to attend, but we gratefully welcome donations after the performance. Your generosity will enable us to continue our mission of bringing people together through music.

Misfits Music Summer Concert 23

Join us at our summer concert!

Get ready to be blown away by some of the most enthusiastic music makers in Birmingham! All of our groups will be unveiling a range of exciting new repertoire that they’ve been working on this past term. Including our yearly collaborative piece where all members play together, totalling a massive 100 misfit “orchestra”.

But that's not all! As part of the BCMG Flourish Project, we are thrilled to present the exclusive premiere of a remarkable new work by the talented Kirsty Devaney. It's a stirring piece that explores the relationship between music and mental well-being. It’s been a joy to work on this new piece, and it’s a spectacle that you won't want to miss!

We've secured the breathtaking Birmingham Conservatoire, where you can indulge in the comfort of a delightful, air-conditioned concert hall. No need to pack a poncho or worry about sunburns. Unlike the past two years…

Secret Project Launch Party

Join us at the Moseley Hive or Thimblemill Library to help us launch the voting period of our Exciting new project!

It’s finally here! The big reveal of what was previously known as PROJECT X.

Join us at either the Moseley Exchange or Thumblemill Library from 6pm on Monday 15th of May to celebrate the official launch of BRUM ROCKS.

Voting officially starts at 9 am on Monday! And as an additional special surprise, we will premiere a special video made by ITV News starring Rod, Reuben and our Rock Collective members.

We will need your help to let as many people know about this project as we can. Bring your smart phone, friends and family and find out what we’ve been building up for the last few months!

Bearwood Bing and Sing

This Bring and Sing is hosted by the Bearwood Rock Collective, a rock group for local singers and instrumentalists to come together and play some of their favourite rock music as well as a couple of new music to appreciate.

Bring and Sing provides an oppertunity for people to get together and play at once with the option of drinks and snacks (for an additional fee) and get the experience of making music in a large group in a low-pressure enviroment.

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • The session will be led by pro-musician Rod, who will guide you through the music on the night.

  • We’ll provide lyric and chord sheets (no need to read music).

  • Time to grab a cheap drink and snacks at the bar

  • Under 16’s must be accompanied by an adult

PLEASE BRING

  • If you would like to buy refreshments, please bring some extra change or a card.

  • Your instrument. (We, unfortunately, can't bring any instruments with us. All instruments are welcome)

  • A music stand.

Suitable for all ages (children must be accompanied by an adult) you'll get an introduction to north Indian classical music and a chance to make music yourself. This workshop is suitable for complete beginners.

Moseley Light Trail

Half term family fun! Join us for a magical candlelit walk around Moseley Park and Pool February 24th, 25th and 26th 6pm to 8pm. Enter via the main Alcester Road gate – next door to the Moseley Hive. Refreshments will be available by the rangers’ shed. 

This is a free event for all the community – no need to book tickets, just turn up on the night.
