Christmas Carols with the Music Seekers & Itsy Bitsy Tom, the Donkey!
In this festive music seekers event designed for those with Learning Disabilities and/or Autism, we invite you to join us in a special Christmas Carol concert where you can experience a live orchestra playing familiar Christmas Carols whilst also meeting our special guest Itsy Bitsy Tom, the Miniature Donkey.
Facilities, and what to expect:
Facilities
Onsite Parking
Fully Accessible Performance Space
Disabled Toilet
Refreshments
A graphic concert programme. (An accessible guide to the concert using widgets and simple language)
What to expect
We will have an orchestra of around 30 players, playing a range of instruments performing traditional Christmas Carols.
This may be a loud environment, we recommend that those with auditory sensitivity, bring ear protection for their comfort. We will have in-ear plugs available for those who request them.
We encourage participant curiosity and interest in the orchestra, however participants must not enter the orchestra without the permission of the conductor Reuben. This is for the safety of both our orchestral members and the event participants.
We don't mind noise, during the performance however we request that those with electronic devices (not used for communication) use headphones or lower the volume of their device. This is for the comfort of other participants.
Our special guest, Itsy Bitsy Tom, is a miniature donkey and will be in the performance space along with everyone else.
Tom stands at a height around 3ft. So is small in stature for a donkey.
Tom will be accompanied by handlers who will facilitate interactions between participants and the donkeys.
There will be opportunities to meet Tom, where you can touch or stroke him and opportunities to feed him carrots. Photos are very welcome. (This is optional and not obligatory.)
There may be an opportunity to meet more than one Donkey, but this will be determined on the day. Please prepare for the idea that there may be more than one Miniature Donkey.
Participants and carers must follow the instructions of Toms handlers both for Tom's and the participants safety.
We will have light refreshments available
This may include hot drinks, cakes and biscuits. Allergens will be posted at the stall.
