Donate your unused instrument,

and we’ll give it a new, useful life

Please Note:

Due to popular demand, we are pausing the shop whilst we upgrade our internal systems to manage and sell our current stock. As a result, we are currently not accepting donations. (as of 20/07/2026)

By donating your instrument to us, you support the Misfits Music Institute and provide an instrument that we can sell, rent, or provide to someone for free.

If you have a musical instrument at home that you don’t use, have struggled to sell or just want to go to a good home, consider donating it to us. We’ll take all sorts of musical instruments and equipment as long as they are:

  • In a working/playable condition

  • Hygienically clean

We take these instruments, give them a look over, and replace consumables like strings, reeds or skins (if needed). Depending on the donated instrument’s condition and monetary value, we will either:

  • Re-sell the donation - To help raise additional funds for the Institute.

  • Rent - Provide a flexible option for ownership for Institute members

  • Allocate to a member for free - This would be an option for those who apply for a free place within one of the institute’s projects and would otherwise be unable to afford an instrument.

Instrument And Equipment Donations We Need

  • We accept the following

    • Acoustic/classical guitars and basses

    • Electric guitars and basses

    • Amps

  • In particular, we are looking for

    • Snare Drums

    • Snare Drum Stands

    • Drum Stools

    We cannot currently accept

    • Whole Drum Kits

  • We will accept a range of brass instruments that are in a playable condition. This also extends to P-bones and other plastic training instruments.

    We ask that donations have been cleaned to a hygienic condition for our safety.

    We cannot accept instruments with extensive damage, rust or has profoundly seized valves or slides

  • We will accept a range of woodwind instruments that are in a playable condition.

    We ask that donations have been cleaned to a hygienic condition for our safety.

    We cannot accept instruments with extensive damage, missing keys

  • We will accept a range of string instruments that are in a playable condition.

    We ask that donations have been cleaned to a hygienic condition for our safety.

    We cannot accept instruments with extensive damage, missing tuning pegs, bows etc.

  • We will accept a range of musical equipment that is in a working condition

    In particular:

    • Music Stands

    • Stand Lights

    • Small/Medium Sized Amps

    • Small electrical tools like tuners, metronomes

    • Instrument stands

    Because there are a lot of different kinds of equipment available for donation, please contact us if you have something that falls outside of this list.

  • We will accept a range of electronic instruments e.g Keyboards, however they must meet the following criteria.

    • Have a UK plug

    • Be in a working condition with no malfunctions

    • Have all components required to operate the instrument.

We cannot accept
upright, grand or baby grand pianos

We do not have the capacity to transport or store pianos
