and we’ll give it a new, useful life
By donating your instrument to us, you support the Misfits Music Institute and provide an instrument that we can sell, rent, or provide to someone for free.
If you have a musical instrument at home that you don’t use, have struggled to sell or just want to go to a good home, consider donating it to us. We’ll take all sorts of musical instruments and equipment as long as they are:
In a working/playable condition
Hygienically clean
We take these instruments, give them a look over, and replace consumables like strings, reeds or skins (if needed). Depending on the donated instrument’s condition and monetary value, we will either:
Re-sell the donation - To help raise additional funds for the Institute.
Rent - Provide a flexible option for ownership for Institute members
Allocate to a member for free - This would be an option for those who apply for a free place within one of the institute’s projects and would otherwise be unable to afford an instrument.

Drum Stools
We cannot currently accept
Whole Drum Kits

We will accept a range of brass instruments that are in a playable condition. This also extends to P-bones and other plastic training instruments.
We ask that donations have been cleaned to a hygienic condition for our safety.
We cannot accept instruments with extensive damage, rust or has profoundly seized valves or slides

We will accept a range of woodwind instruments that are in a playable condition.
We ask that donations have been cleaned to a hygienic condition for our safety.
We cannot accept instruments with extensive damage, missing keys

We will accept a range of string instruments that are in a playable condition.
We ask that donations have been cleaned to a hygienic condition for our safety.
We cannot accept instruments with extensive damage, missing tuning pegs, bows etc.

We will accept a range of musical equipment that is in a working condition
In particular:
Music Stands
Stand Lights
Small/Medium Sized Amps
Small electrical tools like tuners, metronomes
Instrument stands
Because there are a lot of different kinds of equipment available for donation, please contact us if you have something that falls outside of this list.

We will accept a range of electronic instruments e.g Keyboards, however they must meet the following criteria.
Have a UK plug
Be in a working condition with no malfunctions
Have all components required to operate the instrument.
We cannot accept
upright, grand or baby grand pianos
We do not have the capacity to transport or store pianos
