Programme Overview
If you are a young person (18–25) looking to take your first professional steps into a career in live music making, we are looking for a total of five ambitious trainee music leaders to join us for a flexible 12-month paid training programme in Birmingham.
Throughout the programme, you will learn and develop key skills, including:
Effective communication skills with a large group of adults
Understanding the needs of a community music group and shaping sessions accordingly
Time-management
Choosing repertoire and (where appropriate) arranging music for the groups
Developing performance skills, presenting one concert per term
Conducting an ensemble
Leading effective rehearsals

The final fee available is £3,032.40 and this will vary depending on how many workshops you lead by the end of the programme*.
This will be agreed during the programme with the successful candidate depending on their availability and how they progress through the programme.

As part of the application process, you will be asked which of our three main projects you would like to work with. Depending on your interests and skill set, you will want to choose one of these projects per application.
Each of our three main projects has specific needs and will suit different people depending on their experience and musical background. We strongly recommend researching the groups before applying so that you can find the project that suits you best.
Our instrumental project that caters to those who read music notation and play their instrument between grades 1-8.
Dabble and Scrunch is our project that caters to adults with learning disabilities and brain injury.
