Special, Accessible Music Experiences

for people with
Learning Disabilities and/or Autism

What Do We Do?

The Music Seekers is the overarching name of our charity’s Accessible Music work. We offer different types of groups which explore music and sound in different settings. Our resources and contacts enable us to put on some really special musical opportunities for those who benefit from specially catered experiences where traditionally they might struggle.

The Music Seekers projects aim to provide engaging and interactive access to music for those with a range of Learning Disabilities and/or Autism. We are guided by the principles that our projects should be “accessible, entertaining and fun for everyone.” We promote the exploration of music and sound using a wide range of activities, games and demonstrations that utilise different learning styles ensuring that anyone, whatever their needs, can participate in whichever way they like.

Some of our favourite events that we have held in the past:
(some of these were held under our previous name Dabble and Scrunch)

  • 2024 - “Birmingham Conservatoire Saxophone Department”

    • We have hosted the Birmingham Conservatoire Saxophone Department, (a group of 20 Saxophonists playing a variety of saxophones). It was a fantastic experience getting to see some of the best players in the UK demonstrate their instruments and perform some amazing music as a group

  • 2025 - Music Seekers “Adventures in Birmingham”

    • We put on a 45 minute show featuring a 50 person orchestra which explored some of the accessible venues and attractions in Birmingham that people like to visit. We featured places like the Sea-Life Centre, the Cadbury Factory, Edgbaston Reservoir and Tyseley Loco Works.

  • 2025 - Carols with “Itsy Bitsy Tom”

    • We invited some miniature donkeys to come along to a special Christmas session where we played carols and provided opportunities to feed, walk and touch the Donkeys.

Music Seekers Projects

Design promoting a music event called 'The Music Seekers Big Show' with a purple outline of theater binoculars, white bold text, and a marquee-style border around the words 'Big Show' on a dark blue background.

The Big Show is an orchestral extravaganza, providing a specially catered experience to those with Learning Disabilities and/or Autism.

We combine live music with stories, games and activities suiting a range of needs creating a fun and accessible experience that everyone will love.

The Explorers Club is a smaller, more intimate offering compared to our big show, but it’s just as fun.

We explore music and sound through games, activities and special visiting musical guests. A really fun way for those with Learning Disabilities and/or Autism to learn about and experience music with others.

Do you have thoughts or ideas as to what we should be putting on?

To ensure that we are providing the best experience for our audience, we are looking for the input of participants, parents, carers and care home staff. We feel that is is essential in providing the best service possible. If you feel that you have ideas to contribute, sign up to be part of our Steering group.
